- Juvederm is used to restore facial contours and improve signs of aging.
- It’s an injectable dermal filler with a base of hyaluronic acid.
- The treatment focuses on the face, specifically the cheeks, lips, and around the mouth.
How it works
Juvederm works by adding volume to the facial tissue through its active ingredient, hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the human body. It stimulates the production of the connective tissue that plumps the skin. During the procedure, your nurse would use a pen to mark the areas to be treated. Your doctor will then inject Juvederm into the target area. They will also lightly massage the area to ensure an even distribution and reduce the chance of swelling. The entire procedure usually takes between 15 – 60 mins, depending on the area treated.
Here are a number of reasons why this treatment can be benificial for you:
- It Restores volume
- The results last upto 1 year
- Its a Great anti-aging treatment
- It Helps produce collagen naturally
- It contours your face giving you a more youthful appearance
Since Juvederm consists of hyaluronic acid, a substance that is already naturally occurring within our skin, this means that there are virtually no side effects or complications of getting Juvederm; however, some redness, swelling or soreness at the injection site is common for about a day after your treatment.
There is no recovery process involved in getting Juvederm. After your treatment, you can return to your regular routine.
When people hear injections they often get a bit squeamish, especially if the injections are going to be administered to the face; however, Juvederm also contains lidocaine within the solution, which helps to ease any discomfort. Furthermore, you can talk to our dermatologist about numbing the area prior to treatment to further reduce any discomfort.
One can notice results immediately with Juvederm.
As with any dermal filler, the results are only temporary; however, you can expect for Juvederm results to last up to a year.
